Here are three other Bulgarian School fakes copying the McClean 4117-4118 variety of Cherronesos hemidrachms but coming from different dies. These three pieces have different obverse dies but share the same reverse die. The photos are courtesy of Ilya Prokopov, who says he has seen evidence of 30 fakes of this type in Bulgaria. He illustrates another fake of this same Cherronesos variety, made from other dies, in his 1997 book Modern Forgeries of Greek and Roman Coins, as No. 17. |
